This training focuses on building practical skills in wheelchair repair and maintenance to support the safe, reliable, and long-term use of manual wheelchairs. It is designed to promote independence, self-management, and improved quality of life for wheelchair users.

Scope of Training

The training covers key areas of wheelchair service provision, including:

  • Overview of wheelchair types and their components
  • Use of tools and equipment for repair
  • Preventive maintenance practices
  • Identification and troubleshooting of common faults
  • Repair of essential components such as frames, wheels, brakes, cushions, and seating systems
  • Safety standards and quality assurance in repair processes
  • Basic safeguarding principles in service delivery

Approach

The training combines theoretical knowledge with hands-on practical sessions, allowing participants to gain real-life experience in diagnosing and repairing wheelchairs.

Outcome
